I had to hold his food and water bowls this evening to show him it was still possible to eat and drink, but he will figure it out soon enough. He's hunkered down in the Cabell Cave this evening and we all are glad he's home again.

Conehead Cabell

Awww, poor Cabell!
My first purebred, Skipper, had an undescended testicle, so his neuter scar was quite large. He kept pulling the stitches and staples out. Well, the vet had run out of e-collars, so he went out and bought a rubbermaid bucket, cut a hole in the bottom and strung it with gauze to hold it on. It was the funniest thing, a big, lanky shepherd puppy with a bright teal bucket on his head. When he'd go to eat, the whole thing fit over his bowl. He maneuvered it quite well, but would often accidently take us out by hitting the back of our knees with the bucket.
Then, when Jeter got his ear torn, they immediately gave him an e-collar. He couldn't figure out how to walk around in it. He'd take a couple steps, stop, take a couple steps, stop. He was so pathetic.
The poor guy! At least, he can't mess with the cut now and it will have a chance to mend.
