My sweet little carrion eater

It rained off and on for much of the day
so the trails were muddy, but at least
we had them to ourselves.
Daylight ends early, particularly
on cloudy days. We need to be
finished by 5:00 p.m.
It's that time of year again. The time when men, and some women, carry their penis extensions into the woods to kill something, because not everyone carries a badge that apparently entitles them to kill unarmed human prey on the streets.

I'm not actually that anti-hunting, I just don't care for most people who do it or the organization that they all seemingly belong to. I also don't care for the guts and carcasses left in the woods this time of year, but Maya is a big fan.

It's hard to think of my sweet little girl as a blood and guts carnivore, but then again, the sweet little girl routine is mostly an act for my benefit, or rather, for her to manipulate me for her own benefit.

She loves the walks, especially when
we spot deer, which we do most days.
At home chewing on a nylabone.
The other morning she jumped the fence to go on one of her unauthorized solo walkabouts, but she was gone longer than usual. When she finally showed up at the back door, her feet were dirty which is unusual so I knew something was up. She hadn't been in the house very long when she vomited up a good volume of obviously fresh meat and entrails, presumably from a deer carcass she had found somewhere in the woods. That was lovely but it wasn't the end. She barfed up another load and then got me up at 3:00 a.m. to go outside because she had diarrhea. The next morning we found another huge load on the bedroom floor that had come out of the other end of the dog. She had obviously gorged herself on it.
Not as tasty, but fewer unpleasant side effects.

She went on a 24 hour fast and has been on house arrest ever since. I'd like to give the vultures a chance to clean up the rest of the carcass before Maya goes back to check on it again. She's back to normal, feeling fine, eating and pooping as if nothing had ever happened.

Since she's getting no dog yard time right now, I've been walking her regularly and we went out again today for five miles after the rain finally stopped.

I REMEMBER OUR GS COMING HOME QUITE BLOATED, SHE VOMITED GREEN INTESTINES FROM THE TOP OF THE CARPETED STAIRS! THEY WERE NEVER RECARPETED...
