Fannie went to her new home. She passed a temperament test at a daycare facility and her new mom is very happy and excited to have her. Fannie has that openness and trust that you only see in a dog who has never known anything but love. Few people are that trusting and fewer still are deserving of that kind of trust. Fannie has it, and I hope she never loses it.
I kissed her goodbye and she walked away happily with her new owner. That's good to see.
She laid down calmly on the drive in as she always does. |
Have leash, will travel |
It wasn't fully light yet when we loaded him up this morning. He rode nicely in the van, just laid down in the crate as he always does. |
He weighed in at 124 pounds. I've not been able to put any weight on him since he came here. I think he could stand to have at least another 15-20 pounds. We are switching him to a grain-free food starting tomorrow. His stools have always been soft as if he's not digesting something properly. We've been through this with many shepherds, and apparently Danes are prone to similar problems. It took a while to find a food that worked well for Gigi too. Diesel's adopter will need to be prepared to manage this, but we'll try to get him set on the road to health and happiness before he leaves here.
Clay took this pic of Diesel sleeping at his feet as they waited for meds when he picked him up this afternoon. |
He made himself very popular with the staff at the clinic by being his big, sweet, goofy self. Now it's time to start looking at adoption applications and talking to people. That's not my favorite part of rescue.
He came to greet me when I got home, but he really wants to go to bed early tonight, so we will. |
