Lego goes home

Much of the weekend was all about Lego, but it culminated in his adoption so it was all worthwhile. It's a great home with two other dogs, a female Great Dane and a male Weimaraner, a fenced yard, and plenty of experience with the breed. There's no formula that guarantees success, but there are factors that increase the likelihood of a successful adoption and this home has many of them.
The female Dane is a blue merle, really pretty, although her
color and marking don't show up so well in these pictures.
She took an immediate liking to Lego.

Sunday morning I did a home visit with Lego so he could get acquainted with the resident dogs. I met them first and then we met them in their backyard, off leash. The dogs did their own version of getting acquainted which soon resulted in playing and running around the yard. The adopters later came by the Green Dogs adoption event and completed the paperwork and took him home. They sent a picture of all three dogs together later that day. So far, so good. His presence is obviously missed around here, but he needed to move on so I can give more attention to some of the other fosters that remain.

Lego (left) and the other resident dog, a male Weimaraner,
on the right. The two boys got along just fine.
Lego is the same breed and size as the female Dane, but is
similar to the male Weim in color, forming a nice bridge
or continuum between the three dogs.

Like I said, she REALLY liked Lego.
The play was fast and furious, I was nearly taken down once.
This is Lego meeting an inanimate household
object, reaching underneath the female Dane
to get close enough to sniff and investigate.
I sometimes forget what a puppy he still is.
He also spent a few minutes enthralled with
his own reflection in a mirror.

The quality of this picture isn't good, which is a shame because the composition really is.
The three make a very impressive, good-looking group of dogs.

This is my final picture of Lego, sprawling next to me on the grass in a
sunny spot before going home with his new family.

Thank FSM you post these things. These days more than ever, I need regular reminders that humans aren't all self serving scumbags.
