The Denizens of Daneland

Clay has been scouring the former owners social media accounts for information about the dogs. Their website is now gone, but the internet never forgets. We've had the dogs for a couple days now and here's some pictures and information that we've learned about each dog.




























Diamond


Diamond is the big mother dog. She is big, thick, sturdy. She's been used for breeding for several years in spite of the fact that she's deaf and probably partly vision impaired. It appears that Diamond is almost six years old. Her back legs seem a bit stiff but she has no problems getting around and maintaining order when necessary. You can tell she's deaf because if she's asleep she doesn't hear you approach until the other dogs make enough commotion to wake her up. She's a nice dog, friendly, loves to have her butt scratched.

If you have trouble distinguishing between Diamond and the other white dog, Cinderella, look for the nose. Diamond's nose is pink but it's almost entirely covered with black spots.

Karma

Karma doesn't appear in the web very much. She's about four years old. She's really pretty but she's also the most shy. This evening, however, Clay was sitting out there with Karma and Diamond on beds on either side of him. Karma would touch him on her own accord and let him pet her. When he would stop, she even did the big Dane paw thing indicating that she wanted more. She prefers people when they are sitting down, not moving.

She's got merle markings on the right side of  her face surrounding her brown eye. On her left side, she's got harlequin markings and a blue eye. She appears to have both sight and hearing.

Cinderella

Cinderella is the most outgoing, effusive, people-friendly, in-your-face of the four girls. She's deaf and I don't think she sees much either. When I was walking towards the gate today, she and the others were at the fence, but she was looking in the wrong direction as if she didn't see me coming. She is also quite mouthy. She doesn't bite down, but I think she's using her mouth to feel the world that she can't see or hear.

Cinderella is about two years old and we believe she is one of Diamond's many off-spring. In spite of her vision and hearing limitations, she's happy, playful, and not at all scared or shy in new surroundings.

Disney

Disney is the youngest, at about nine months of age. She looks and acts it too. She sweet, but a little fearful, never having had any life experiences outside the hellhole of squalor they called home.

Disney can both see and hear and she knows her name. I got her to sit today too, although that might have been mostly an accident. We close Disney in her crate at night and she's fine in there until morning. The other dogs use their crates to sleep in, but we don't close the doors.

Disney is cute, sweet, young, pretty, probably the most readily adoptable of the four at this point. She has missed out on a lot of learning and training that she should have received, but her disposition seems good and I think she could make up for it if someone gave her the time and attention she needs.

Like Karma, Disney also has one brown eye and one blue.
