The Fab Five

The big one in front is Sierra. The one looking up at Clay is Peroni. The one in the center is
Guinness, closest to Clay is Modelo, and sitting at the right is Stella.
Bear with me, this is going to be a long post. But don't worry, mostly it's just pictures of puppies. Black dogs are difficult to photograph, at least by an amateur like myself. They are also generally the last to be adopted. I wanted to feature the black puppies from Della's Dozen, and also feature some of the other black Danes that we've fostered and adopted to show just how beautiful they will become.
This is our late, great, HRH Gigi, wearing
her evening pearls for a night out on the town.
One of the great things about black dogs is that
they are easy to accessorize. Basic black looks
good with everything.

We went outside for these pictures today, but no ground contact for the pups, they were on a piece of
virgin linoleum. I was wanting better light to get better pictures, but we set up in the shade. It was just too hot to be out in the direct sun with black puppies. I got some pretty good pictures, but they will still be tough to properly appreciate on a phone or a tablet. Get ye to a real computer monitor and enjoy.

Here's Peroni showing the classic Great Dane, J-shape tail.
The three behind are Sierra, Modelo, and Stella.

Guinness in profile. The wrinkly face tells us the skin is
growing faster than the skull.

This is Sierra, the biggest of the girls and second
only to Carlsberg overall. She's big boned gal.

Modelo the Adventurer got his name because he was
the first to get out of the tub, first out of the pen, first
to climb on anything.

Peroni, stepping out.
Stella the Snuggler

Oberon, Obi, showing just how handsome a
full grown black Dane can be.
And this is Obi showing us just how goofy a full grown
black Dane can be. Obi moved to California and his moms
just got married on Friday. Congratulations all around!

Modelo has a yellow collar.
If you can't see his collar, Modelo
has a pretty large and distinctive
white patch on his chest.

Stella (left) and Sierra (right) have collars that are similar
but the size difference is obvious if they are side by side.

Stella (left) and Peroni (right).
Both good pups, and both are good beers.

Peroni, pink collar, white splash

This is Clyde out on a hike. It was before his adoption and he's now sleek and shiny, but you
can see here that he's a strikingly handsome dog.

Guinness
Guinness has an orange collar and just a white smudge on
his chest.

In case there was any doubt, Great Danes can be lap
dogs and this entire litter will be. We have been holding
and handling them, a lot.
Everyone around here has to get used to having
a camera stuck in their face.

Alright Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close-up.

Modelo and Sierra

The Goddess Athena is definitely a beauty.

Now get ready for some serious cuteness.

That's it for the pups, for now, but here's one of my favorites of Gigi to end the post.
Sometimes your black Dane is just a silhouette gliding across a field of green grass and buttercups.
Angel flying too close to the ground.

I have had the privilege of having two black Danes. I agree about photographing them - the same is true of my black cat. I am interested in being added to the adoption list if you are having trouble placing any of the puppies; although, they are all so adorable that I can't imagine they will be in need of homes. I can be reached at sbrenton@rstarmail.com if puppies or Della need homes.
