These two make quite a pair. They have been playing together a lot lately. Kismet has been very good for Journey. She is as outgoing as he is shy. While he might not have initiated play on his own, she just plays with him and it never occurs to her that he might not want to.
I took some pictures and made a few short videos of this morning's playtime after they had both had breakfast. The trees are often in the way and they don't stay in one area, but that's the nature of play. In one of them she completely bowls him over and he rolls once or twice before bouncing back to his feet. He tries to stand up on his back legs like she does, that's a Dane play technique, but mastiffs aren't really built for that. He does the best he can and she is just happy to have someone who will play with her.
I have seen Journey stick his head through the flap on the doggie door several times but hadn't seen him actually go through it until the other day when we had a storm. I went out to check on them and both dogs were bedded down comfortably in the air conditioned shed. He can go in there if he wants to but he's a pretty outdoorsy dog. Kismet goes into the shed during the worst heat of the day, and of course at night. Journey still comes in the house to his crate at night.
