Chase got neutered today. It was a bigger, longer, rougher, and more expensive surgery than a normal neuter because Chase had a condition known as cryptorchidism. Only one of his testicles had descended into the scrotum where they both should have been. The second one was retained in his body. That meant that they had to make a second incision, in the abdomen, and go on a little search and destroy mission to find and remove the second testicle. They found the little devil and removed it and from all reports the surgery went well. Chase is back home with us this evening sleeping it off.
Today is the proverbial "reason for the season," the Winter Solstice. Hanukkah has already come and gone. Christmas is just around the corner. If you're in the giving mood for any reason, please consider making a donation to Green Dogs Unleashed for Chase and all the other dogs, cats, birds, and other critters that Green Dogs takes in. The adoption fees really don't cover the average costs per animal and all rescue groups depend on donations to make ends meet. Rescue groups have been hit hard by COVID just like everything else. In-person fundraisers aren't an option right now and Green Dogs had to scrap its biggest fundraising event of the year, Santa Paws, because of the virus.
I know I shared an online fundraiser for Green Dogs right after Black Friday a few weeks back and that many people donated. If you did, thank you. If you missed that, or if you can afford to do it again, please consider making a donation now for Chase to help pay for the search for his missing testicle. If the funds aren't needed for Chase, they will benefit the next dog, and I promise you there will be another one, in fact many more, who need the help.

Some years I've done the Angel Tree thing. One year I just went toy shopping and took a couple bags of stuff to the Salvation Army. We used to go to an annual party where they collected food for the food bank and some years I've just gone grocery shopping and dropped it all in the big collection bins they have at the front of the store. This year I haven't done anything for anyone, so I've just kicked this off by making a $50 donation to Green Dogs using the link provided. Any donation is appreciated and will help. Green Dogs Unleashed is a 501(c)(3) organization and donation are tax deductible.
