A beautiful harlequin Dane, one of several that were there with the New York chapter of the Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League |
This is Chilly, he belongs to Lori Pasternak of Helping Hands in Richmond. He was in New York because he won a contest to be in a doggie wedding. It was a surprise to see a dog I knew so far away from home. |
The Great Dane rescue folks were there, with several HUGE Danes that made Gigi seem tiny. We talked to them and learned a new term - "teacup Dane" - which fits our girl perfectly.
I can not imagine having a group of shepherds in that mob scene, and I'm sure the dogs they brought were carefully chosen, but they all seemed to be doing well and enjoying it.
The rescue people seemed pretty much the same as those we see and work with at home; we are probably more alike than the dogs we rescue, foster, and adopt.
This little guy was just cute. |
Later that afternoon, we stopped at a bar for a couple drinks before the show we were seeing that evening. We sat at the bar and struck up a conversation with two guys sitting next to us and it turned out that they had put in an application to adopt one of the dogs they had seen that afternoon at Broadway Barks. I gave them my email address and I hope to hear from them that they got the dog.
