Limping along

I've been neglecting the healthy dogs around here lately in favor of the wounded and the lame. That's driven by necessity and it will pass, but for now that's just the way it is. Della seems to be recovering well and I have an appointment tomorrow to have the drain removed from her wound. She's actually handling the crate rest pretty well, maybe enjoying the greater amount of individualized attention she's receiving as compensation for the lack of farm dog freedom. Serena wants Della to run and play as usual and doesn't quite seem to understand why they aren't doing so.

Greta got spayed today and she's still pretty out of it this evening. She's in one of the foster crates in my office. Callie goes in for her spay Thursday morning so the post-op ward will be full tomorrow night.

Early this evening I did take the healthy fosters, Thor, Callie, and Betty White, as well as Max, out to the pasture for a good run.

Della and Serena, nose to nose.
Serena wants her to play. I'm not even letting them share a crate as long as Della
is still healing and wearing that cone.

Greta on her way in to the vet this morning.

And on the way home this afternoon.

The best patch of buttercups we have so far this year is in the dog yard.

Della has learned to cope with the cone fairly well.
It's somewhat easier on a tall dog.

Arby out with us in the front yard.

Clay walking Della over to the tall grass, where she prefers to poop and pee.

Thor

Occasionally Betty White stops running, but not for long.

Max has been great throughout all this process.
He's very low maintenance when I need him to be.

I would like for these three to be getting adopted, but they are a nice, self-contained,
self-entertaining play group and that makes them low maintenance too.

Another shot of the buttercups in the dog yard.
