About noon on Sunday another nice couple drove here from Harrisonburg to meet Thor. They brought along their female shepherd and she's a real beauty. While they liked Thor, their dog wasn't so sure that he's a good idea. We spent a fair amount of time with them together out in the pasture. Thor got to where he was interested in meeting her; she was mostly interested in checking out the pasture.
It wasn't love at first sight but it didn't need to be. Still, it didn't seem advisable to send home both dogs in a single car until they were better acquainted. They are still interested in him and I think it's worth a shot so I'm going to take Thor to their place next Saturday for another meeting and see how that goes.
Also this weekend we did the monthly heartworm prevention and started flea and tick preventatives on everyone for the spring season. I didn't do any hiking, but we had some more pasture time and I finally tackled that tree that fell down back in December.

For heartworm prevention, I give an oral dose of ivermectin mixed with some
canned dog food, so the dogs all think that heartworm preventative day is a real treat.
Theo and Serena looking very interested and attentive as I prepare the medicine.
Even Arby likes me on this day.

Here's my Easter foster parade: Kaya, Thor, and Betty White
This is the downed leyland cypress that we lost in an ice storm last December.
Here's Serena running in front of the downed tree on the pasture side of the fence.
And here's the same tree at the end of the day on Sunday. I still need to haul
all the limbs down to the brush pile, cut up the trunk, and figure out
what to do with the stump and the hole that it left.
