It's been three months since Allison came here, very pregnant, and then delivered and raised ten beautiful puppies. All the puppies have been adopted and are starting their new lives, full of hope, promise, and puppy enthusiasm. Today was Allison's new beginning as well. She was adopted.
By morning she had slept off the after effects of the anesthesia and was feeling like herself again, although working with the cone handicap. She actually got along with it pretty well. I've had some dogs who acted like they couldn't move, or lift their head, or even breathe with the damn thing on. Allison was coping with it pretty well and hopefully will only need it for five days.
The people in her new home were anxious and excited to have her. I'm happy for them, and for her. Della seems pleased by it too. I miss her, because that's what you do, but I'm happy that we were able to help her and of course it was a privilege to play host to her litter of pups for what now seems like a few short weeks. In that time they morphed from amorphous little sausage rolls into little miniature Danes, beginning to grow into their Greatness.
Allison was gaining weight and looking good when she left. Her eye already looked 100% better just by no longer having the red bulge in it. In addition to the cherry eye, she had entropion in the same eye, so it had to have been bothering her. I'm confident that she will feel better than ever when it's all healed up and it will no longer distract from her beauty.
First news from the new home is good. It seems like the perfect home for her and she certainly deserved it.

Farewell, Allison and babies. You had the best possible foster home. I hope you all have long and happy lives with your fur-ever families.
Adios, Allison. I will miss seeing you in these posts. Happy forever.
