Solstice

Thanks to the Freedom From Religion Foundation on Facebook, I learned a new Latin phrase today: "Dies Natalis Invicti Solis" meaning "the birth of the unconquered sun." In a word, Solstice.

We dispensed with the traditional bacchanalian celebration this evening, not even a bonfire, and instead had dinner in town with Clay's mother after doing a little last minute shopping for Christmas gifts and groceries. Alas, we are getting old.

Earlier in the day, however, I got the dogs out to the pasture for another romp. It was a chilly day, which just means they could run more without getting overheated. Happy Solstice.

Declan loves getting out to run.

Max and his big red ball

River ate a piece of clothing the other day and has been experiencing
some digestive upset as a result. The shredded cloth came out yesterday morning,
hopefully his system will return to normal soon.

Declan's first night indoors went very well. He slept downstairs in the kitchen
with River but he was good and quiet all night.

Thank you, River, for posing next to my new fence.

This is Della inviting Declan to run with her. The two videos below show the response.
She is more agile and quicker. I'm not sure who would win in a flat out, straight line race
because that's not the way they run and play.
