The leash work we did the day before really paid off. We arrived before the adopters and Erika and I walked the long driveway with Tippy a couple of times before they arrived. She was great, didn't freak out, didn't pull or try to back out of her collar. Her initial response to the leash had just been fear of the unknown, but the little time we spent yesterday went a long way towards dissipating her fear. She was good with the new people, of course, but she also kept coming back to me as her security blanket.
They had a long drive home, which I'm sure provided a lot of bonding opportunity. The adopters are experienced Dane owners and I don't see any reason this shouldn't work out wonderfully for both the people and the pup.
