He's still pretty much a pup himself. His teeth are bright white, making him look like he's just around a year old. I feel pretty confident in saying that his teeth are in a lot better shape than those of his original owners, whoever they may have been. Kilo's most recent owner, who gave him up along with the puppies, had himself rescued Kilo after he had been abandoned in a cheap motel that was apparently being used as a drug house.
Kilo was then kept in the pen along with the two huskies who presumably produced the puppies, and one other dog. In spite of this less than ideal upbringing, Kilo is a really stellar dog. He's sweet, he's friendly and outgoing. He loves to play with toys and will destroy anything that squeaks. Kilo gets along very well with other dogs. We've had no problems between him and any of our other dogs or fosters. He runs with Della when she wants him to, he was part of a successful bunny hunt in the pasture with Maya one night, and he even gets along well with Paisley.
Is he perfect? No. He's still a puppy and he gets into stuff he shouldn't, he occasionally picks out something in the house that isn't a toy to chew on. He will also just up onto anything to get a better view or to be able to reach something he wants. He couldn't have been housetrained really, but he's only had one incident in our house and that was the first evening right after he arrived here and knew nothing of the household routines. He can jump a 4' foot fence and has done so to get out of the dog yard, but he doesn't run off. He wants to belong and he wants to be indoors unless something is happening outside.
I took Kilo on a two mile walk with Della at Pleasant Grove Thursday evening. He enjoyed it, like he enjoys everything. He wasn't terrible on a leash but he did a lot of walking from left to right as far as the leash would allow while also moving forward. He bumped into Della so often that she finally dropped back and walked next to me to be out of his way. I'll start taking Kilo out in public this weekend if I have a chance, but I don't doubt that he will do very well. Perhaps his time living in a drug house had some advantages in terms of socialization with a range of people and activities anyway.
Finally, what kind of dog is Kilo? I don't know. He's got shorter fur than either a malamute or a husky, but he has a definite northern sled dog sort of look to him. His is a nice mix. Whatever went into his genetic makeup, it gave him beautiful blue eyes and a very sweet personality.

whoever adopts sweet Kilo will be very lucky. given his looks and coat pattern, I would guess that there's a GSD in his background too.
