Today was the day that made it all worthwhile. Not all of the pups are placed yet, but a couple have been adopted and two more are in new foster homes where they are getting the experiences and learning that they have missed out on to date. But today Reese went to a new home and I couldn't be happier.
Reese had to meet and be accepted by two dogs in the new home, a playful male who liked her immediately, and an older female who can be very selective about her friends. We met out in the pasture and the male immediately engaged her in play. Reese was a bit uncertain at first, but he won her over and they had a great time running the trails in the pasture. The female wasn't so interested in play, but Reese met her appropriately and the two of them were soon walking together as well.
Reports and pictures after their arrival back home have all been good. Reese was running and playing like a dog should, not as a mother with her pups, but as a young girl with a new friend. A beautiful and contented young female dog will emerge in the days to come as Reese begins to shed the many layers of fear and anxiety that have been weighing her down.
Would you like to play a game?
The female dog knew that Reese was no threat and they got along fine.

Makes my heart so happy! I'm with you as the Mamas and Dads are always the last to be adopted, if at all. So this is just awesome news to start the week with! :-)
