Super Saturday

It was a good day, a busy day, a doggone great day.

A Green Dogs dog who is not my foster came for a visit. His name is Hudson. He's still pretty much
puppy, full of energy. He met some dogs here to hone his social skills. We had some fun in the pasture
and he practiced wearing and walking with his Gentle Leader.  Shepherd/lab mix, great dog.

Arby was not interested in playing with Hudson.

I got in some ball throws with Theo.

Serena and Della did their Dane thing.

Hudson is a good boy.

After Hudson went home, I loaded up Karma, Summer, and Dolly and went over to Green Dogs.

Karma was adopted today by the family who met her a couple weeks ago.

I predict that there will be a lot of cuddling in her future.

She rolled over for belly rubs as soon as she recognized the people.

One of Della's pups, Killian, lives with the Green Dogs family, and two other pups were visiting there today. Guinness (now Astro), and Chimay (now Maze) were playing in the field with Killian.

Here's Astro and Maze.

Killian and the much larger Astro

When Danes play there are plenty of goofy facial expressions.

Maze's merle coat has gotten darker.
The "wings" that served as the prominent identifier on her back have merged into her darkened coat.

Chasing Maze around was the name of the game today.

The ground was frozen starting out, but the sun was hitting it and it was becoming softer.
As time went on all three dogs were turning brown.

Danes have a style of play that really requires another Dane.

When Astro stands up he's taller than I am.

Astro has grown huge.

A good time was had by all.

There's a statue in London on a corner where Piccadilly meets Haymarket called
It portrays four horses rearing up on their hind legs, not unlike these three Great Danes.

Dolly has a new foster home, which is expected to turn into an adoptive home,
at least if things continue as well as they have gone so far.

Dolly's sweet, soulful, and worried look has touched many of us, me included.

We've had just one other fawnequin Great Dane that I can remember.
Her name was Khaleesi and she was also quite a beauty.

She readily hopped into her new car for the drive home.
Reports since she arrived home have been very good. She will share a home with Augie,
another one of Della's pups (formerly Paulaner). She has ignored the cats completely and
has won over her new "foster" mom already.

Two adoptions in one day is a banner day, but we weren't done yet.
Summer had a meet and greet with a prospective adopter that went very well.

Summer is a handful, but this adopter is experienced and has a good set up for an energetic rottie.

Summer did her best to make a good impression.
She's back home with us tonight, but we'll hope that she will find her new home soon.

This is Madison, who is perhaps the only one not so happy about the day.
But we'll find her a home of her own soon and she'll get more attention around here until then.
