A beautiful Wednesday

It's time for puppy socialization. They really haven't had anyone but me and Allison for the first five, almost six weeks of their life. They need to meet other people. Berta and Mary have been out to meet them, my friend Meg came by today with her daughter. The pups weren't sure what to make of them at first. Some of them were very friendly from the start, Elliott and Malala in particular, others hung back and watched. The merle girls surprised me by being rather reticent. It took a little while but they came around and enjoyed the attention, but it was clear that we need to do more of it.

This is a great photo of the nine girls. Elliott isn't in it because he's running around.

Elliott was not shy at all.

I did some more work out in Daneland today, hanging out with Rufus and Allison. I discovered that Rufus loves pushing the big hard plastic balls around with his nose.

I believe it was yesterday that Clay said that the Saint Bernard, Henry, reacted to and went after a cat or some critter he saw on the television in the front room. Today he noticed the pictures of the puppies on my computer screen that Erika had posted announcing that applications were now being accepted for the puppies. He had his massive head over my keyboard and was applying just enough pressure to arrow key on the keyboard that he was scrolling through the pictures on his own. His attention was focused on the screen, watching those puppies scroll by.

It was a spectacular fall day, sunny, mid 70s, clear blue sky. I didn't have a lot of time but did get a few dogs out for a brief romp in the pasture.

Hugo gets a lot of exercise in a relatively short time because he runs constantly.

Fall is the prettiest season in this part of the country.
