New alliances, new accommodations

Sweet Tart started barking from her crate in the kitchen about midnight last night. Bailey and I went downstairs to let her out and ended up staying with her for an hour or so. Sweetie and Bailey had a middle of the night play session that they both enjoyed. She went back to her crate and Bailey and I went back upstairs to the bedroom until 5:00 a.m. when both Sweetie and Bear started barking to announce the start of the day.

Sweet Tart has definitely been settling in. She plays with the puppies and she plays with Bailey. Bear is not a fan, however. He will play with Bailey but he just barely tolerates Sweet Tart and I can't figure out why.

It was a sunny day but there seemed to be no warmth in the sun today. I took Bailey and Bette out for the two mile walk at the park. They both enjoyed it and I wanted to try out a new harness on Bailey. It's not actually new, I've had it for years, but haven't used it on anyone in a long time. It's brown leather and looks nice on her. Speaking of harnesses, and dog stuff in general, we have a ton of it and most of it needs to be re-homed. Harnesses, leashes, collars, crates, grooming stuff, supplements, we've accumulated a lot of it over the years, mostly coming with new fosters or donations made after someone's dog has passed. I appreciate all that stuff, have used much of it, have passed along much more to others, but if anyone needs anything, please let me know. At some point I'll do a series of posts with pictures looking for someone to take it, but please let me know if there's anything in particular you can use for yourself or for any other rescue. I have a big bag of small greenies for some reason, anyone use them?

I've been running two space heaters in the puppy shed for the last couple of months. They are set up in crate adjacent to a crate that the pups use for sleeping. It has kept them comfortable so far, but our electric bill is outrageous and worse, the forecast for the next few nights is for overnight lows in low teens. I'm not sure the heaters can continue to keep them safe and warm. So, the two remaining pups, Elektra and Storm moved inside this evening, to a pen set up in the kitchen. I'll still get them outside during the days, weather permitting, but this will keep them warm at night and it will be a further step towards getting them more civilized.
