Serena: She was Fine with Everything

Today was all about Serena. I actually left Maya home for the day, and yes, she did demonstrate her displeasure. But Serena needed to get out and meet her public, and we needed to see how would handle it all.
Serena only had her front two feet in
the door when she was face-to-face with
a cat. Both were fine with the meeting.

We first stopped at Green Dogs to deliver two contracts to Erika and to meet her own litter of young. She was fine with everything. In fact, those five words sum up the entire day.

We went to visit Clay's mother and her cat. She took treats from Berta and went nose-to-nose with the cat as soon as she stepped in the door. We hung out and chatted for a while, she was good being in a new house. She mostly just laid her head on me until it was time to go.

There are a lot of close up pictures of Serena today. There's several reasons for that: 1. She has a pretty face; 2. She looks good in profile; and 3. She was just that close most of the time.

She was a bit shy and uncertain, of course, and her tail was down most of the time, but she wasn't terrified and her tail wasn't tucked up close under the belly. She reacted appropriately to a new people and new things. She allowed people to approach and pet her always; she would even lean forward and check them out herself if they were hesitant. She was much better than I am at any party.

Basic bio: Serena is about 10-12 months old. She's a fawn colored Great Dane. She will be spayed on Tuesday and is current on all vaccines. She's house trained, crate-trained, seems to be good with kids, cats, dogs, and all people young and old. She's available for adoption through Green Dogs Unleashed. Get your application in before her foster home decides to keep her.

She took treats from Clay's mother, that's
always a sign of trust.
Serena's head in my lap.

Our first brewery stop, at Reason Beer. It was
just after noon and not a lot of folks out yet, but
those that were said she was beautiful.
Her head resting on my leg.

At Pro Re Nada brewery. Bigger crowd, more
admirers, including small children.
Her head must be heavy because she spent a
lot of time resting it on my knee.

Clay got a kiss at Merriwether Springs brewery.

Merriwether Springs has a small tasting room
and it was pretty full, so we were in close quarters.
She was fine, however, and met many people,
including a baby, a toddler, and an older man
who was using a walker.
She was fine with everything.

Serena on a recent walk. No pulling,
no drama or excitement when we
see people or dogs.
