Little dog, big day

It didn't start until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, but oh my, we sure packed a lot of activity into the next three hours. Green Dogs held an adoption event at Patch Brewery in combination with a disc dog demonstration put on mostly by the Proctor family. I took Olivia, and she loved every minute of it.

Some dogs are better at public events than others. Olivia was great. She worked the crowd, trying to meet every person and dog who came within the reach of her leash and just pulling me a little bit to reach a few more. She was jumpy with a lot of people, but most everyone there was all right with that and many of them loved it and encouraged it. There were a lot of Green Dogs volunteers and followers who knew her and came over to see her and she met a lot of new friends from the general public. She got a lot of love.

There were also a lot of dogs there today and she did well with every one of them that she met. One of Allison's pups, Elliot, was there and he's just as sweet and playful as he always was. He wanted to play with Olivia and she wanted to do the same.

Olivia had a really good experience. She was interested in everything and tried to take it all in. She would just sit and watch sometimes. She's a smart girl and you could see her processing and learning from everything she saw. Her greetings were friendly and appropriate with everyone. I watched her closely with kids just because she was jumpy, but she was good with them too. And I got to see and meet the woman who was responsible for rescuing her from the backyard kennel where she had been abandoned.

The black dog is Violet, who belongs to my friend Meg. I'm not sure who the third dog is.

This is the woman who rescued Olivia.
She also handled her for me when I went to get a drink.

I had not seen Olivia lay like this, but she did it quite a bit today.

This is Elliott, all 118 pounds of him. Eleven months old now.

This is Elliot's adopted sister, Shelby. She was also from Green Dogs.
Shelby as not one of my fosters, but she was fostered by a friend.

Everyone who knew Olivia just from pictures remarked that she was smaller than expected.

She is a tired dog tonight.
