Bear in the woods, and elsewhere

Our newest foster, Bear, is a young male German Shepherd Dog. He's less than a year old, I would guess about eight months. He's still very much a puppy, sweet but rather shy, skeptical of strangers but he warms up quickly. He's good with all the other dogs around here so I put him out with Norman on his first day so he could watch and learn. That was fine but he really needed to learn to trust me so the next day I kept him inside with me all day and then we were friends.

Our first walk was before he really trusted me so he was constantly turning around to see what I was doing rather than just walking out front with Bailey. He finally settled down and we had a decent walk. I took him out to the pasture yesterday evening with Bailey, Norman, and Elvis. He didn't know what he was doing out there and seemed intimidated by all the open space. We did it again the next evening and he teamed up with Elvis and began to enjoy himself.

Bear has a lot to learn, about everything, but he's good indoors and good in his crate at night so he's been a pretty easy foster so far. My guys can teach him how to dog and he's got the German Shepherd instinct to bond to a person, he just needs someone to fill that role.
