Puppy day

The puppies were five weeks old this past Thursday. They will get their first vaccines next Thursday. I'm not sure how much Marvel is still feeding them. I've been giving them mush twice a day but they haven't eaten much of it lately. They needed more space to move and play, and more separation of the pee pads from their bedding. Today was the day.

We cleaned up the puppy shed, constructed a new wall, and dismantled the whelping box. They now have at least three times the space with plenty of room for eating, sleeping, pooping, and playing in more or less separate areas. They have several toys to play with and I put the cardboard tunnel in the space as well. I'll started adding something new every day or so. Marvel still has indoor space where she can be separated from the pups while still keeping an eye on them, and the pups don't have access to the doggie door.

I changed their food because they didn't seem to be eating it very well and I don't think Marvel is doing much nursing these days. Maybe she is feeding them by regurgitating her own food like Della did for her 12-pack, but I haven't seen it. They've been getting enough of something to keep growing, however. We weighed everyone for the first time since they've been back and they ranged from 6.3 to 7.7 pounds. Thor is now the largest (7.7), followed by Wakanda (7.3), then Elektra (7.2), Rogue (6.5), and Storm (6.3). Several of them got new collars so the old color coding system is no longer valid.

This evening everyone got a dose of wormer (strongid), and I took individual pictures of each pup. It was a big day for the puppies.
