Brutus

He is Brutus, a neutered male, about a year old, possibly a Dane/Mastiff mix, who recently completed treatment for heart worms. He arrived after dark Saturday night after a long day of travel from Alabama that involved many hand offs from volunteers along the way. Not as quick and pleasant as those that hitch a ride with Pilots and Paws, but any way you can get out of Alabama is a good way to get out of Alabama.

I didn't really want to do introductions after dark, so he only met Trooper and Maya Saturday evening before he went into a crate in my office for the night. Sunday morning he met Pinky and they spent a few hours together in Daneland and met most of the other dogs through the fence. We were gone for most of the day on Sunday and he seems to have spent it hanging out in the Daneland shed on the big bed recently vacated by Dobby.

Apparently he was given up by his prior owner after he tested positive for heart worms because the owner couldn't afford the treatment. With heart worms, as in many other things, prevention is very inexpensive compared to treatment.

He arrived with the standard redneck reflective orange plastic collar, which I replaced with a nice leather collar and my tags today. All I can say about him so far is that he's a nice, sweet boy. He likes to lean and he likes to be touched. He should fit in well around here.
