Expanding horizons

Having puppies this age means needing to come up with something new all the time, something to challenge, teach, and entertain. Although their attention spans are short, their live experiences are quite limited at this point so it's not too difficult to come up with something new.

I added a new surface challenge in Daneland last night, using the cut off ends of our newly installed fence. The merle girls have ventured onto it, but few of the others, so far. I left the pups outdoors after the second feeding today until well after the third feeding because it was such a nice day. Late in the afternoon I opened the Daneland divider and let them romp and play on the larger, and grassier side of the divider.

They had a great time and the larger space gave them an opportunity to really run. They were ready to crash when I put them back inside not too long before dark.

Here are some pics from the day.

Sojo is now 10.5 lbs.!! She's getting mush made from kibble and milk replacement powder.

This isn't easy to walk on, but Danes need to learn to coordinate
four long legs toward a common goal. That's not always easy.

Uncle Henry watches from outside the fence, very interested in their toys.

Sojo carried this ball around for a while and sat and rested her head on it.

The grass was a new experience. There isn't any grass to speak of in the puppy side of Daneland,
hasn't been since Della's pups wore it down two years ago.

Sojo looked so tiny in the tall grass, but she ran and jumped her way through it.

Susan looks like a pup with a purpose.

All the pups loved Paul.

They all look out for Sojo, keeping her safe and warm.
