New Year's Day

Well, the new year is off to a busy start.

Let's go back to last Wednesday. The newest shepherd, Rambo (right), went in for neuter.  He also had an overgrowth of clostridia in his gut that was causing explosive diarrhea.  He got neutered and started on meds and spent the night at the vet.

Stoney and Daffney, both former fosters, came to spend a few days while their mom went out of town to visit one of her two-legged children.  They are nice dogs, both of them, but it brings us to a total of 4 household rottweilers, which is a lot of stubborn independence.  But they've been fine, are very cute together, and will be going back home Monday night or Tuesday morning.

Thursday I took Biscuit to the vet to check a stool sample, picked up Rambo and brought him home, and then drove Biscuit over to a new home in Richmond. It seemed like a good fit for both dog and human.

I had the day off from work on Friday so I drove down to Lexington to pick up this guy, "Max".  He's sweet, gives hugs.  He's part boxer, and they said part Pyr.  Could be, he's a big boy already and only 7 months old.

Saturday morning I headed to Williamsburg with TJ to meet someone who was interested in him.  I think it would be a good match but haven't heard from them.  TJ was perfect in the car on the trip down and was well behaved in their house.  He checked things out, went for a run, and then settled down on a spot in the hallway like he had been there his whole life.

Late Saturday afternoon I got an email saying that Biscuit was coming back, 48 hours after his "adoption."  I met him at Zion Crossroads about 9:30 this evening and he's back home now.

Tomorrow, Sunday, I'm taking a load of dogs to a VGSR adoption event up in Sterling.  TJ, Rambo, Buddy, and Biscuit.  Rambo has some interest and someone is coming specifically to meet him.

And tomorrow evening I'm taking Belle to meet someone.  They have another dog, however, so I'm more than a little doubtful about the prospects unless their other dog knows how to handle Belle.  Trooper has been playing with Belle.  He's isn't bothered by her attitude and he just puts one of his big paws on her back.
