My Old Town canoe

I sold my canoe today. It was an Old Town canoe I bought used quite a few years ago, from Craigslist I think. I remember driving to Crozet and meeting some guy in the parking lot of the grocery store there. It was a good deal then and I got a lot of use out of it over the years. I posted it on Facebook Marketplace today and had it sold within minutes, which probably means I under priced it, but I think it was what I had paid for it and it was now quite a few years older with more wear and tear. A very nice young man came by in the afternoon to pick it up, we chatted, I showed him a lot of other things and ended up selling him my cast iron dutch oven and an old adze as well.

I had hoped to get out for another float trip this spring, but I realized that with my shoulder being messed up there was no way I could paddle a canoe, even on the Rivanna. It might have been a sad moment, but the guy seemed as excited to have it as I did when I first bought it and that made it better. Also, I decided to concentrate on things I can do rather than things I can't.

We are very fortunate, privileged, to be in the position to make the move we are contemplating and I am truly more excited about it than anything else. This evening Clay made reservations for us for two events in Lille -- an English language night at a comedy club, and an Edith Pilaf impersonator at a local theater.

In the spirit of concentrating on things I can still do, this afternoon Bailey and I went out on another four mile hike, our fourth four miler in the last four days.

The daffodils along the road in front of our house are really pretty right now.

My first wildflower spotting of the year. I'm told it is liverwort. Ugly name for a beautiful flower.

Bailey knows the "up" trick very well.

If this beautiful spring weather holds, I may actually make some progress on losing weight again.
