Two temporary residents arrived on Friday. Copper is back for 10 days while his new mom is away. He is now called Cooper, which is easier to say somehow. He is such a sweetie and is getting to be a very well trained dog. Teddy was happy to see him and he met Trooper too.
Cooper is having private obedience lessons and is doing very well. He is great with the cats and the two senior female dogs in his new home. The chickens have learned to stay out of his yard. He loves going to the dog park and has many friends there. I couldn't be happier about his new home, and from the looks of him, I think he feels the same.
Also arriving on Friday, late afternoon, was Claire. She came out of the shelter in the butthole of the universe, Lynchburg. Except for the fact that she pissed on the blanket in the back of my car on the way home, Claire was a perfect guest. That one indiscretion was probably brought on by the fact that Trooper had done the same a few days ago. I need to wash that blanket.
Claire was a very short termer. I was just helping the transport really. She spent the night here with Cooper, Teddy, and Trooper, but this morning I loaded her in the car again and we headed to Richmond to meet the next leg of the transport. She should be in her new foster home in Portsmouth by now. She was more than willing to hop into any vehicle and accept any new person holding her leash, so it appears that Claire is stable, confident, and very adaptable.
