My favorite line from "Will & Grace" is from Karen Walker, of course. At one of Grace's infamous dinner parties, Karen greets an incoming guest with this advice: "Grab a bottle, hunker down, and pray for daylight." That pretty much describes our weekend in the latest snowstorm to hit our area.
It started Friday evening and kept snowing and blowing until sometime early Sunday morning. We collected about 10-12" of snow, not as much as last time, but the wind blew through it all and the temperature was much colder. Fortunately, the puppies were safe and warm back at the SPCA since last Monday. But it was cold and I wanted all the outside dogs to be in an outbuilding at least, so I brought the three short-haired dogs indoors.
Emmylou and Molly don't really need their indoor crates and Emmy rarely uses hers anyway. So they took their places on dog beds and gave up their crates to the bulldog mix, Copper, and the boxer, Diesel. Rocky still has his crate and I brought in another for the beagle, Teddy. That made 10 indoor dogs, which was fine, but it kept me pretty busy shuffling everyone in and out past Gypsy.
The four fosters remaining outdoors then shared the two sheds where they could be warm and dry. Duke seems to be completely immune to the cold. He will lay in the snow as readily as he will in a bed of straw.
Clay was stranded out of town for a day but made it home Sunday morning when the sun was out and the roads were pretty well cleared. Today is neuter day for Diesel and Duke. They both have several people interested in them, as does Dakota. I need to try to get them moved out this next weekend. Rocky is doing better, we have a follow up visit with the vet this afternoon when I go in to pick up the neutered boys.
