More Adventures

Guinness getting to know the youngest human pup.
We had another visit from a hoard of children today. The puppies loved it and they were more tired out afterwards than I've seen them be from normal play. Clearly the stimulation was good for them. These kids were also accompanied by a vet who gave the pups all an examination without them leaving their home.
It was like a green day care center in there today.
Erika did a Facebook Live event and broadcast it. The kids
enjoyed it and so did the puppies. After the pups have had
their first vaccines, I'm thinking we'll do a grown up version
of this get-together. Maybe a house warming party in the
new puppy palace when it opens.

We've been increasing the amount of food the pups are getting and they are devouring it all. Della goes in to nurse several times a day but never for very long. Instead of laying down, she can actually feed more of the pups now from a "sit" position. They are tall enough to reach the upper nipples and both sides are open and available.

Della seems to know that the puppies are transitioning from her milk to solid food and she's participating in that as well. Twice now, last night and again this evening, Della has regurgitated her stomach contents when she's in with the pups. Last night she wasn't immediately prepared to share it. I saw what she had done and cleaned it up because I wasn't sure if it was her dog food or if she had just killed another rabbit. She did it again this evening shortly after eating her own dinner and she walked away and left it for them. I guess it's her way of getting them off the milk habit while still providing for them. All very natural and wonderful, and also very gross. I thanked her for helping but cleaned it up before the puppies had too much of it. It's nice to know that she's still feeling maternal anyway.

Upside down Paulaner. Who knew that
the bottoms of puppy feet were so cute?

You can see the razor sharp shark teeth
in Paulaner's mouth here.

The puppies ate and then slept soundly after the kids left.

Where Della goes the puppies follow.

Della and I laid down when it was all over too.

When it was just one of us in the bed in the puppy room, Della would often climb up onto the
bed to nap and sometimes to sleep at night. We are both back in the same bed now and Della is
in the bedroom with the rest of the pack. Last night she climbed into bed around midnight was
still there when we woke about 5:30 a.m. At least she's letting us sleep through the night now.
