Two Out, One (maybe two) In

I don't have too much to say today, just a straightforward report of the weekend. It was a pretty good weekend. Samson went to his new home on Saturday and is doing well, as we can see in this picture. The cats in the new home are not amused and it will take a while for them to get used to the idea of a big dog being around all the time, but it sounds like Samson is doing his part.

Max, the constantly smiling chocolate lab, got adopted on Sunday and has a great new home. The folks had seen him on the web but hadn't met the dog until yesterday. It only took a minute, if that, for them to make up their minds. I had already had a home visit done, so he went home with them as soon as the adoption contract was completed. He was a little concerned to be going without me, but I'm confident that he will settle in to his new home quickly.

Of course, the reduced canine population in our kennels didn't last very long. We picked up this male GSD named Bear from the Orange County shelter on the way home. Bear is a beautiful dog and could be adopted quickly, except for the fact that he's got heartworms. That means it will be a couple months before he's ready to go.

And, when we got home, there was a message on the voice mail about a new male shepherd in the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA. Chances are that he will be coming here as well. I need to call and see what I can find out about him today.
