Two years ago

There is weather in the forecast for tomorrow, possible big storm, snow/ice/rain, and general ugliness. I'm sure there was a run on the grocery stores today but our fridge is full so I didn't participate in the general hysteria. These things are generally over-hyped and I usually respond by being under prepared like I was two years ago when we ended up with deep snow, bitter cold, and no power for seven days. I hope this will not be a repeat of that week.

This was the morning after the big snow, two years ago.
That's Max! Hello Max, we miss you.

This was the most iconic photo (not mine) from that snow event.
This is a volunteer working on clearing downed trees from a nearby road in Fluvanna County.

Here's a look back at that week:

Not much new around here the last few days. Elvis is recovering; he's already objecting to not being able to go outside to hunt.

I think the foster Danes are finally putting on some weight. It's too cold for them outside with no fat and not much of a natural coat. I'm feeding them three times a day with a little digestive enzyme sprinkled on their food. Most importantly, I'm bringing them in and keeping them crated in the house except for a hour or so after each feeding.

Norman is snuggled up in the puppy shed out in Daneland. The heater takes the edge off the cold in there and he certainly has enough body mass and coat to stay warm.
