Home for the Holidays

Cole, he was a hit today.
Although it seems early for a holiday event, today was Home 4 the Holidays sponsored by GoodDogz.org at the Reston Town Center.  VGSR was participating, along with a lot of other rescue organizations, so I loaded up four dogs and off we went.  It was 100+ miles up there, a good 2.5 hour drive, but the event promised several thousand visitors, so I couldn't pass it up.

I sent the new guy, Cole, home with a prospective adopter to see how he would do with their cat.  (Nearly every person I talked to today asked me how dog X, Y, or Z would do with a cat.  Apparently every last person in northern Virginia now owns one or more cats.)  Cole is only about 5 months old, if they can't make it work with him, I don't think they will be dog owners.  Nice folks, seemed like a really great home, so I really hope it all goes well.  He was incredibly well behaved out there today, very calm, friendly, easy going.  Cole actually had several people interested in him, although they all seem to be cat owners.
Thora playing with Jasper, the last of her puppies in foster care.

While I'm very happy for Cole, I knew that he'd be popular and relatively easy to place.  The best news of the day may be that someone was very interested in Thora.  It also sounds like a great home, there are no cats involved, and they hope to have their home visit completed this next week.  That would be wonderful for Thora.

Mercedes was stuck on me today.
Mercedes was seriously stuck on me today.  She was desparately needy and didn't want to be away from me.  Just insecure.  She is very pretty and got a lot of lookks.  It shouldn't take too long to get her adopted, I hope.  I need to see about getting her spayed.

Ryland was sweet and mellow today.  No takers, but he made lots of friends.  I used a prong collar on the three shepherds but just a regular slip collar on Ry.  That was a mistake.  He pulls harder than they do and he goes where ever he wants to go.   He will work the crowd for food.  He has his own agenda.
