Vet, family photos, cold weekend ahead

This post has no real unifying theme, just a lot of random stuff going on, which is actually the norm.

I took Gigi to the vet today.  She has been licking excessively at one of the calluses on her elbows.  It has gotten enlarged, inflamed, and kinda nasty.  She wasn't crazy about the visit, but she did well.  The vet aspirated the lump on her elbow and said that the cells appeared perfectly normal, but full of infection.  She got some antibiotics that we started this evening.  She also got her nails trimmed and her ears looked at. They need to be cleaned and medicated but I'll start on that tomorrow, the visit was enough trauma for the day.  They did a cold laser treatment on the infected area, which is supposed to make it heal faster.  She came home, ate dinner, headed straight up for the bedroom and hasn't been heard from since.  She is such a daddy's girl.  She crawls into my lap for comfort and I'm a complete sucker for that. The girl does take a pretty picture.

I happened to catch this group photo this morning.
Left to right is Trooper, Gigi, Bremo, and Zachary.
Cabell is in the room too, but he's mostly hidden in this picture.

I moved so I could get Cabell in the picture too, but as soon as he saw the camera he started to get up.  I only had one chance at the shot and unfortunately Zachary didn't get fully in this picture.

Cabell just doesn't like to have his picture
taken, never has.  I got this one, which is better
most, because he was busy having a drink of
water.  Cabell is about 13 years old and he
has kidney problems and drinks a LOT of water.
Prospective adopters are coming to meet Zeus on Saturday morning and someone else is coming Sunday afternoon to meet Barack.

They are predicting really cold weather for tonight so the boxers came inside.  I have put extra straw in the nest boxes in the shed for Hercules, Barack, and Riley.

Lana and Augie bring the household total up to 10, so I really hope that Zeus finds a home tomorrow.  Also, this girl, Maya, is coming tomorrow from a shelter over in the valley.  It sounds like she may be a shy girl so I may try to find her another foster home.  This isn't a great environment for a shy dog, but it will get her out of the shelter at least.

This little girl is Maya.

Dogs do furnish a room, don't they.
