The First Day

The vernal equinox actually happened at 11:49 p.m. Thursday night, making today, March 20th, the first full day of Spring. It's a moment of transition to longer days, which I always welcome. It's also my nephew's birthday (happy birthday, Matt!) And it was the official adoption day for Brutus, marking the first day of his new life, free of heart worms, in a new home.

Brutus is a handsome fellow even if his dark coloring does make him difficult to photograph. Brutus moved in with another one of my former foster dogs, Drogo.

Brutus seems happy, as he always does.

Brutus is probably the least threatening
dog I've ever known.
This beautiful beast is Drogo. He not always welcoming to
new male dogs, but he seemed willing to adjust.

Brutus just loves.
Brutus loves everything and everybody.

Khal Drogo

Brutus is top heavy, so he often ends up being upside down.
The upside down mastiff head and jowls.

River is the young merle Dane who will play with Brutus.
The small dog is Penny, the old lady who runs the place.
