Watch out where the huskies go...

Toquima is staying with us for about a week.
Here he is eating snow.
"Watch out where the huskies go, and don't you eat that yellow snow."  --- Frank Zappa

Zachary on the walk,
Bremo waiting at the door.
I got the boardwalk finished just before the snow storm and I'm glad I did.  The last section still needs to have the edges trimmed off to a straight line and needs a final board custom cut to fit at the gate, but it's been a pleasure to have a nice walkway between the house and the dog yard in this snow.

Snow is tough on the old dogs, (Lady, Bremo, and Cabell), and Gigi simply refused to go out on Wednesday.  The walkway helps them get out at least, and it eliminated one step which makes it a little easier on Lady.  Several of the boys just walk along the boardwalk and lift a leg at the snow bank on either side and are then ready to go back inside.  It's turned into something of an elongated pissoir, dotted with yellow snow along the sides.  That's fine, it's made it easier on all of us.

Gigi (front), Trooper (right, head in snow),
Bremo and Zach at the door.
Long legs, small feet, and short hair do not make
for an outdoorsy wintertime dog.  Gigi prefers
the comfort of a soft bed in a warm house.
Our power was finally restored Thursday afternoon and the house is heating up again.  A day or two of sunshine and decent temps and this snow will be history.  I will not miss it.

Riley has put on some weight and is
looking good.  She is unfazed by the snow
or pretty much anything else; she reminds
me a lot of our late, great Molly.
