Bremo's birthday and other happenings

It was 12  years ago today that our first foster dog, Maggie, gave birth to 10 pups, one of whom is our Bremo.  He was one of the bigger pups and has been first in line for food his entire life.  He was the last of the pups to be adopted, the last one chosen, but he was chosen by us and I like to think that made up for it.  He's an old guy now and his long legs are getting pretty wobbly but he's still gets around when it's time to eat and he still enjoys a sunny day outdoors laying in the warm straw.  Cabell is about a year older and the two boys have been together for 12 years now.  They've grown up together and grown old together, life-long friends and damn good dogs.

The Maya/Trooper saga continues.  She has actually sort of won him over and now I see them playing together quite a bit.  She will also play with Rocky now, and she'd probably play with anyone who would reciprocate, but Trooper is still # 1.  They are so cute together.   I am trusting her a bit more in the yard for longer periods unsupervised, but she's still trailing a 20' line everywhere she goes outdoors so I'd stand a chance of catching her if necessary.  There's no question that she can jump the fence, but she's with Trooper and feeling enough at home that I don't think she wants to go anywhere.  I'm taking her to an adoption event on Sunday for the first time to see how she does in public with me but without Trooper.  She has come around, but she will still require the right home situation.

Vince is hard to read.  He woke Clay up at 3:00 a.m. one morning this week needing to go out.  I think he's got something going on in his gut so he fasted for 24 hours and is now on chicken and rice with pumpkin and Panacure.

Tanya, the new female shepherd I brought home on Thursday, moved to a new foster home on Friday.  It's a new foster home for VGSR and they are local to me, here in Fluvanna County.  She's a good girl and they seem like good folks.  They are experienced with both shepherds and with fostering.  I'm just happy that she's in a real home at last.

Our newest beer, English Setter Bitter, makes its debut today.  I'm having the second one now.  It's an ESB or English Special Bitter.  Don't be put off by the name, "bitter" is just a style of beer, it's not a bitter taste at all.  It's a very typical English beer with a very typical English Setter on the label.  In process we have another batch of red ale and the Scottish ale.
