A Shepherd Solstice Surprise

Clay has actually known this little girl was coming for a couple of days now, so she wasn't really a surprise, and she's only partly shepherd, but she arrived today on the Winter Solstice, making her my Solstice Shepherd. Her name is Fanny, she was an owner surrender, she's about five months old, and appears to be a shepherd mixed with something else, perhaps a golden retriever?  She came to Promises Animal Rescue from a shelter in Frankfort, Kentucky, with a lot of help from a group called Pilots & Paws.

Her day started with a roadtrip from Frankfort to the airport in Lexington, KY, where her own private pilot flew her to Morgantown, WV, where she changed planes and pilots for the last leg of the trip to Charlottesville. Clay and I picked her up at the airport late this afternoon. Fanny is our latest foster dog with Promises and she's had all her vet work done already, including being spayed.

I thought she might be scared, but apparently she has no fear of flying and just settled down in the crate, as she did on the drive home as well. She met most of our pack upon arrival, but she's settled into her own large crate for the night. She's a sweet girl. We look forward to the lengthening days and her finding a new home to start her new life.

She settled down in the crate on the drive home just as she
had done on the flights.

So far, so good.
She's a sweet girl but that's
about all I can say at this point.
