Miss Scarlett

Here's the write up I did for Scarlett and some of the pictures that Clay and I took Sunday morning:

Scarlett is new to the rescue, coming to us from a prior owner who was moving. She had been living outdoors but moved into her new foster home as if she had been an indoor dog at some point in her past. She's very friendly with everyone, strangers, children, and other dogs; everyone gets a kiss from Scarlett.  She has attached herself firmly to her foster dad and follows him everywhere. After a couple days of anxiety, she has calmed down and seems to now feel comfortable in the foster home and confident that she will be fed regularly, which apparently was not always true in the past. Scarlett's exercise needs are pretty low, mostly she just wants and needs to be with her person. She is very loyal and devoted already; it doesn't take long to earn her trust. You can contact Scarlett's foster home at vadogrescue@gmail.com if you have any questions about her or would like to meet her. We are located in Fluvanna County, near Charlottesville, VA, and will attend adoption events in Gainesville.

This was sent out to just the VGSR membership for the purpose of introducing Scarlett and getting her posted on the website. I received three responses about possible adopters in very short order. However, I also remembered a local person who has been looking for a female shepherd. She comes highly recommended from someone I trust (a prior adopter herself). She's an older woman and she's been looking for an older dog.

Scarlett and I went to visit the woman Monday afternoon and everyone was happy with the prospect. I left her an application form and we'll go back on Wednesday afternoon to meet again.
