Making Friends

Roo brought Gigi a gift, trying to interest her in play.
She might have been more impressed
with the gift but for the fact that she
already considers that toy to be hers.
The new guy, Roo, did very well here last night. He stayed in a crate in the office, along with Vince and Max, and seemed quite content. He ate well -- no German Shepherd hunger strike from this guy, and I'm glad because he needs every bit of food he can get.

I didn't put him out to the dog yard right away this morning. He did his business in the AC yard adjacent to the house and came back in to hang out in the office with Maya, Trooper, Vince, and Gigi.

She gave him a little bite on the head
as a thank you anyway.
He tried again to get Gigi's interest. He had a little more luck than yesterday, but still not much.

He had better luck with the boys. Toquima arrived today for a week's stay with us, and I took Toquima, Gigi, Trooper, and Roo out to the dog yard to mix it up with Barkley. Barkley's greeting style with new dogs through the fence leaves something to be desired, but put them together and he's fine. He's never said "no" to an offer of play, so Barkley, Toquima, and Roo had a good afternoon.

Barkley and Toquima were happy to see each other.
These two boys play very well together.

Barkley and Roo, checking each other out.

The afternoon of play really stimulated Roo's appetite.
He had a big dinner and ate it all.
