Jeb's last day with us

Jeb got adopted today. He has an older brother who is also a chocolate lab. He has lots of space and lots of people time. The whole family loved him and of course he loved them. It should be good.

There was an overwhelming amount of interest in Jeb. Green Dogs received more than 20 applications within hours of posting his pictures and story. That was more than enough for an excellent home to surface and indeed one did and Jeb went to live there today.

These pictures are of Jeb's last hurrah out in the pasture this morning. I was trying to run some energy off of him before the adopters came with their dog to meet him. I don't think it made a noticeable difference. At Jeb's age the energy is pretty endless and the recharge happens very quickly.

The picture at the bottom is Jeb and his new brother. They both like to play ball. We discovered today that Jeb will fetch a tennis ball, return with it, drop it, and sit while he waits for it to be thrown again. Someone did some training with this dog.

Serena being tailed by Sam.

Max started out with a stick as always, but then he drops it and can't find it again.

Jeb is a good looking dog from any angle.

That's Theo in the rear, running after Sam and Jeb.

It's pretty much a given that in any post about any dog, there will also be pictures of Della.

Della surprised me today by playing with Jeb.
I've never known her to play with any dog other than Serena.

Here's a video of Della and Jeb playing. Della then leads Jeb on a chase
and picks up a few more dogs along the way. She can easily outrun them all,
but she keeps circling back around to keep them interested. Even Max joins in.

Serena and Theo playing tug with the Jolly Ball.
A couple more of these are going on my Christmas list.

The tug game quickly drew an audience. Serena prevailed mostly because
she was holding the rope while Theo was trying to hold the ball.
Or maybe Theo let go when Della showed up. She's been known to intervene on Serena's behalf.

But moments later, Max had the ball and disappeared with it for a while.

Jeb didn't have the height, but he has enough mass to make him a formidable playmate.

Everyone stayed pretty close together out there today.

He should have a good life ahead of him.
