A big day

This morning Clay drove Charlie, Yukon, and Peggy into town to a vet for their spay/neuter surgeries. They will start going to their new homes beginning on Friday. There's another set of surgeries scheduled for next week. A week from Saturday they will all be in new homes and I'll be out of the puppy game, for a while if not forever.

The day was beautiful for the pups who didn't go to the vet and they spent most of it outside. I got the other dogs out to the pasture for some good run time today as well. Kaiya and Elvis were out for several hours in the late afternoon and it was quite a while before they came back to the gate. Elvis fancies himself as a great hunter and I'm sure they were nosing through the tall, thick grass looking for who knows what.

Clay picked up the three pups late this afternoon but had to separate the two boys from their sister, Peggy for the drive home. They felt fine and were wanting to play with her; she was wanting and needing more rest. Peggy is in our post-op ward, which was the setup we had in our guest room in the house for all the pups during the really cold weather. Charlie and Yukon are in the puppy shed, but closed in, at least until tomorrow morning.

Holly was certainly aware that three of her puppies were missing today. She's still very devoted to them and I wonder if she's going to be the first mother dog we've had who has difficulty letting them go. The one thing, the only thing, that will tempt her away from them is pasture time. She loves to get out there and run.

Chico, Maya, and the back end of Max

Chico doesn't stick the trails.

Max may not run much, but he likes to go out there.

Elvis and Holly, emerging from the tall grass.

I think Holly has some bird dog in her.

Chico could have spent a lot more time out in the pasture today,
but the jumped the fence to get back in the yard where I was.
