Back to the trails

It was another cool day and I had no excuse not to get out for a hike.  I checked the calendar and I hadn't been on a trail walk with a dog since the end of May.  All the time between the trip to Kansas and the trip to New York was spent on yard work, mostly cutting grass.  Sparky was feeling neglected and I was feeling guilty and fat, so we hit the trails the morning.  No records were set for speed or distance, but we were out and moving again and Sparky really enjoyed it.

Later in the day we went to James River Brewing in Scottsville, and then drove down to Farmville for dinner with one of Clay's friends from his college days at Georgetown.  If you haven't been to The Fishin' Pig, you aren't missing that much, but we did have fun.

I hope the fireworks are over for another year.  Trooper is not a fan, nor is Vince, but Stella really hated them.  She is settling in nicely.  She's had a bout of diarrhea today but I suspect that's from the canned food and wormer I've been giving her for the past three days.  She will be fasting tomorrow.  Overall, she has settled in as fast and as well as any foster we've had.  She has learned the household routine and personalities.  She has full house privileges, including bedroom, and today I brought her from the dog yard to the house without using a leash.  The great thing about older dogs is that they just want to learn the rules and fit in, they aren't interested in breaking new ground.

A roll in the grass, just because

The restoration/improvement project on the
house at Pleasant Grove seems nearly complete.
Today's route, 6.10 miles

This sign was on the back of the building at The Fishin' Pig,
on Rt 15 near Farmville.  It speaks for itself.
