Colin

It's been about a week since Colin was neutered. He's good to go; it's time to find him a home that will raise him to be a proper German Shepherd Dog and an upstanding member of society.
I took Colin and Coco to a public event last Saturday. There were lots of people there, lots of other dogs, and other animals as well. What really struck me about Colin was his curiosity. He wanted to meet every person we encountered. As I was walking him around, he just went from person to person, greeting everyone in the same friendly manner, which usually including jumping up on them to get as close as possible.

He's a puppy, 8-10 months old. He jumps, he uses his mouth, he does many things an adult dog shouldn't do and he's behind the curve on the path to being that well-behaved dog that he needs to be. However, he's sweet, he's food motivated, and he's extremely curious, so he can catch up. He's not a turn-key dog, but he's the ideal candidate for someone who wants in on the ground floor. He's got the full range of possibilities ahead of him, and he needs an owner/trainer who wants to bring him along, guide him, and help him develop.

Colin is a toddler in terms of development. He'd be ok with older kids, but he really needs someone who will commit to training him, not just playing with him. If you've got the time and inclination to mold this cute lump of clay into a spectacular German Shepherd Dog, he's available for adoption through Promises Animal Rescue and his foster home can be reached at vadogrescue@gmail.com

There's lots of pictures here because he can't take a bad one and I couldn't choose.

Colin was staring very intently at a baby goat on the other
side of that fence. He wasn't pulling and didn't display any
aggression, but he was very, very curious.

Everything about him tells me that Colin is going to grow into
a fine looking shepherd. The personality will be determined in
large part by his owner and the training he receives.

If I didn't have Siegfried, I'd be pulling up in your driveway right about now to adopt Colin. He is a handsome boy.
