The Danelaw

The Danelaw was that part of the England where the laws of the Danes held sway over the law and customs of other cultures such as the Anglo-Saxons that predominated in other parts of the country. I think our property is now properly considered to be part of the Danelaw. We have the marshy fens for sure, and enough Danes around here now that everyone else seems like a distinct minority. According to Wikipedia, the primary religion of the Danelaw region was Norse paganism, and I'd find that a welcome change. I put up Solstice lights on the shed to get in the spirit.

I took the new guys, Winston and Chase, out to the pasture with Della and Serena today. They all enjoyed it. Della led the new guys on some runs around the property. It helped everyone get more comfortable I think. Winston is the more outgoing of that pair. He generally had his tail up. Chase's tail wasn't tucked under him but it was down more than up. The girls weren't sure what to make of the new guys. The didn't engage in play but they shared the space.

I didn't get many pictures of all four Danes together out there today.
They mostly paired up, the new guys together and Della and Serena together.

Winston heading left, Chase heading to the right.

Winston on the run

Serena with her ball (Theo's ball according to him).

Chase is a harlequin Dane like Della and he even has a partial
black sleeve on his left rear leg.

Winston is very playful, he's also a little "mouthy" which isn't so great in a dog this size
even if he does have a soft mouth.

Winston's tail is up, he's having a great time.

You can see that Chase's tail is still down, and his head is down, looking serious and
still a bit concerned. That's certainly understandable. It will take him a few more days.

Chase's tail is almost up here.

Serena looks a little thin still. I've increased her food.

The boys got a few sniffs in when they could.

Here's Chase getting a sniff of Della, but the look on Della's
face says that's all he's going to get.

These boys have gone through some very big changes in the last few weeks,
but they will be fine. They are adjusting. They are fine being crated and are good indoors.
