Dasher

It's time to get down to the business of finding this pup a home of his own. His name, given by the shelter, is Dasher. He's a neutered male, estimated to be about seven months old now. Dasher is a little guy at about 33 pounds, and he may top out at just 45 pounds or so when he's fully grown and filled out. His breed mix is anybody's guess. I'd just say that he's cute.

We've only had Dasher for a week or so, but he's fallen in to the routines around here and he gets along well with all the other dogs. He's young and he tends to latch onto, follow, and emulate whatever dog or person he is with at the time. Dasher has met a cat on a couple occasions and acted as if he didn't know what it was. He was scared of the cat if anything, no sign of any prey drive. He's not nippy or jumpy like many young dogs. He takes treats very gently from your hand. Dasher is crate trained and doesn't object to it at all, although he doesn't always go it when asked.

Dasher is a puppy so everything is new to him, of course. I took him to Lowe's this evening for a little shopping but mostly we walked around the store. He was a little nervous but not fearful. He took treats from a store employee. When he's in a new situation he tends to stick close to his person and there's nothing wrong with that.

Dasher has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested (negative) for heartworms. He's available for adoption through Promises Animal Rescue and is being fostered in Fluvanna County, Virginia, not too far from Charlottesville.

Dasher is adorable. I don't think you'll have him very long.
