Warm, winter's day

Today was a very pleasant contrast to some of the cold wet weather we've had lately. The temperature made it up to 65 degrees, there was no wind, and the sun at least tried to peak out on occasion. Aside from being muddy, it was just a nice day outside. I had most of the dogs outdoors as much as possible and took Bailey and Elvis for a three mile walk in the afternoon, followed by some pasture time with the puppies, Cheese, Bailey, and Elvis.

Bailey and Storm
Those three pups look as if they could have been Bailey's puppies. They certainly look more like her than their own mother, Marvel.

Bailey and Elvis on this afternoon's walk. These two always walk well together.

I put Maya's old harness on Bailey. It used to be a bit too big on her, but she has grown into it, in more ways than one.

When we got back from the walk I moved Bear from the dog yard where he had been with Cheese over to Daneland with Norman. I brought the puppies over from their space, let Cheese out from the dog yard, and led them all out to the pasture. Then I brought Bailey and Elvis from the van out to the pasture as well. It was Elvis and Bailey's first up close encounter with the puppies. The pups were thrilled to meet two more big dogs. Elvis pretty much disappeared on a hunting quest, preferring that to the puppies.

This is Elektra meeting Bailey.

This is Elektra learning not to jump in Bailey's face.

Bailey could get away from them when she wanted to,
but she was curious and was generally good with them.

Storm

Cheese was more tolerant of the puppies jumping at and biting on him,
but he corrected them as well, which is what they need.

Rogue (you can tell by the darker coloring.)

You can see Elvis deep in the brush, hunting something.
Bailey joined him. The puppies were curious.

The puppies were more independent out there today. They mostly stayed together still, but the would occasionally separate, with one or two following one of the big dogs and the other(s) following me. Once they realized they weren't all together they generally sought out the others and reunited.

After walking around the pasture for a while, I led Cheese and the pups back into the dog yard. Clay came out and fed Bailey and then took her inside. I put some ramps up so the pups could access PlayStation K9 and they did so immediately.

Storm is going to be the first one to have an upright ear.
