Hunter arrives

Hunter was given up to us by a man who wasn't very happy with his daughter.  She had bought the dog apparently, but then just put him out in a pen and forgot about him, paid him no attention, and did nothing with him.  He wasn't very happy with his daughter but he was determined to do right by the dog and he did by giving him up to us today.

Hunter is very friendly with people, but he thought that the dog was dog-aggressive.  It may have been that he was protective of his home turf, or it could be simply that he was misinterpreting the dog's barking.  The man brought him to an adoption event a couple weeks ago and we introduced several dogs to him there with no problem.  He came here today and I put him in the dog yard with Mercedes and Ryland, again, no problem. Ryland couldn't care less about him.  Mercedes needs a young and active playmate since Trace got adopted, so I think Hunter will be a good match for her.

He's 19 months old, good looking, and basically healthy except for a patch of hair loss and dry skin on his back.  We'll get that checked out and get him neutered and he should be good to go.

It's nice to hear about a human who is trying to do the right thing for a change. Too bad more of this man's sense of responsibility didn't rub off on his daughter yet, but we can hope that it will in time. I'm sure Hunter is already enjoying his new lease on life.
