Getting through the hot days

Saturday was beastly hot.  I finished my work, made a trip to the dump, visited the community garden to water my tomatoes, sprayed weeds along the fence line and driveway, and mowed the dog yard.  Mostly we said goodbye to Cooper.  He had been with us for a couple weeks or so while his family prepared for a move to Georgia.  Cooper was a foster dog with us about 10 years ago.  His original name was Hydro and we've always loved him.  (How could you not?!)  He fit in fine around here as if he had never been away, but he sure was glad to see his dad on Saturday.

Cooper's departure on Saturday following Daphne's on Thursday got us back down to six indoor dogs, and just four in the bedroom at night.  I did a bad thing by teaching Gigi that she can sleep on the bed because now she really wants to and she's sneaky about it.  She waits until everyone's asleep and then sneaks back up onto the bed at night.  I just can't get mad at her though and she really does make an effort to sleep in a small spot.  We are just lucky that they don't all do it.

After saying goodbye to Cooper, Clay and I headed down Rt 29 to visit the new Blue Mountain Brewery Barrel House, and tasting room.  The tasting room had just opened about a week ago so it wasn't crowded at all.  Blue Mountain Brewery's main location is great but it's almost becoming a victim of it's own success, the place is packed on weekends.  The beer was good and it was a nice way to escape the heat.

Gigi's a smart one:-) Sounds like she knows what she is doing. It's so great that you found eachother.

Thank you again for all that you do! Reading about the remodelling work you did in this incredible heat- I am just amazed. You are making such a huge difference every day for all of these fur babies.
