Houseguests, 2 of 4

Toquima and Maya
Toquima settled right in as he always has.  He's been here several times before and he falls right into the routine as if he's never been away.  He's gets along with everyone, crates well, he's just a solid dog.

On Saturday afternoon Shayna arrived with her dog Sgt. Friday.  I had never met Friday, he wasn't one of my former fosters.  He's a deaf Catahoula Leopard Dog.  I knew Shayna because she used to be with VGSR but mostly because she had adopted the shepherd Rocky from me after all the surgery to remove his ear canals.  With Rocky she developed an interest in deaf dogs and she then adopted Friday.  She drove out here from Texas to adopt a third deaf dog from another rescue group.

Friday is young, energetic, and quite playful, but he wouldn't play with any of our guys.  He got along with everyone, but I think he may have been just a bit overwhelmed.  He would play with Maya indoors, but outside, even out in the pasture, he didn't want to interact much.

That's ok, he may loosen up a bit over the next few days.  Yesterday they met Stryker, the dog Shayna came out here to adopt, and those two dogs played together.  They are getting together again Sunday morning and then Stryker will be coming back here with them Sunday afternoon.

We had another visitor Sunday morning, Garth.  Garth came out to meet Hercules with the possibility of taking him on as a foster.  Herc and Garth both have EPI so Garth's owner is familiar with all the feeding and medication that it requires.  Garth mostly followed Herc around with the ball.  We will arrange another meeting sometime this next week to see how that develops.
